The Audiovisual record group contains audio or moving visual recordings. Types of materials include film reels, audio tape, cassette tapes, VHS and other video cassettes, and vinyl records. The title or identifier for each individual item is listed in this inventory.
The majority of content has been captured by amateurs, such as school employees, with some professional recordings. For all materials in this record group, audio and visual content has been identified solely by labels or other written description accompanying objects (not by playback).
Arrangement
This record group is arranged in three series:
Series I. Film
Series II. VHS
Series III. Audio recordings
Conditions Governing Use
Note that the audiovisual material in this record group is restricted due to its fragility and because the New-York Historical Society lacks the necessary playback equipment.
