Biographical / Historical
Ralph Graves was a reporter then articles editor for Life for many years before being appointed its managing editor in 1969. As Time Inc. suspended Life in 1972, he was the last managing editor of the original version of Life.
According to a corporate memo in Time Executive Editor Edward Jamieson's files, Graves was Acting Editorial Director for some months in 1972. In 1973, he became Corporate Editor of Film and Cable. The Time Inc. Department Head Lists in the Time Inc. Reference Files record him as a corporate editor from 1974 to 1978 with his listing changing to editorial director by 1980. He retired from Time Inc. in 1983.
