In the interview, Collado discusses his parents' adolescent years, courtship, and marriage; educational experiences in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn; employment in New York City public high schools; relatives' experiences with drug trafficking and addiction in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn; and childhood exposure to violent crime in East New York. Biographical note
Adam Collado was born to a Puerto Rican mother and a Dominican father in New York City. He grew up in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn and received a B.A. in economics from Brooklyn College in New York City. He worked as a technology coordinator at a high school in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn.
