In the interview, Kaplan discusses her childhood in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn and the Kew Gardens neighborhood of Queens; parents' flight from Nazi Germany; career in social work; and experiences working with United States Air Force service members and their families. Biographical note

June Kaplan was born to German Jewish parents and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Kaplan received an undergraduate degree from Queens College and an M.S.W. from New York University, both located in New York City. She was employed as a social worker and lived in Westchester, New York.
