Biographical Note
After holding positions in the Time Inc. subsidiary Southern Progress Corporation, Don Logan was appointed the president and chief operating officer of Time Inc. in June 1992 and served in these positions until 1994, at which time he was promoted to the chief executive officer. When Reginald Brack stepped down as the Time Inc. board of directors chairman in 1997, Logan also assumed that title and held both until July 2002.

Chron Files contains primarily Logan's outgoing correspondence. It includes congratulatory notes to staff regarding promotions and work anniversaries; memoranda setting meeting times and agenda; memoranda regarding strategic plans; his notes for department head meetings, executive committee steer meetings, and senior management meetings; some speech transcripts; and external correspondence, mainly to heads of companies that advertise with Time Inc. or to professional and social organizations. Restricted materials include his authorizations to pay invoices or make financial transfers, staff evaluations, and signed contracts.
