Series V. Young America series

Biographical / Historical

The Young America series was published by the McLoughlin Brothers, Inc. as early as 1867. As with many McLoughlin Brothers, Inc. imprints, woodblocks were often reused for different or reworked editions, titles, and series even decades later. The Young America Series would appear again in the 1890s in a different format. The Young America Series books were printed using chromoxylography, a color relief printing process. The McLoughlin Brothers, Inc. were the first North American publishing house to color print with woodblocks.
