Series III: Pre Press Prints
Scope and Content Note
Contains the screened and sized versions of Andrews' artwork as prepared for publication. These materials are often touched up in order to achieve the Andrews' desired level of contrast and contrast. Prints he felts were unacceptable were placed in a folder titled "Unusable". Full-size versions of almost all of these prints can be found in the Finished Artwork series of this collection.
Almost all of this material dates from the time that Andrews was employed at the Daily World, and responds to current events from the perspective of the Daily World and the Communist Party of the United States of America.
A very small amount of material was created during the time that Andrews worked for Arizona State University, mostly for sizing purposes.

Scope and Content Note
Contains the screened and sized versions of comic strips created by Andrews while he worked as a staff cartoonist at the Daily World. These include Dick Tricky, a multi-page series that had a very short run; Is This the Way it Was?, a weekly strip which provides commentary on a number of (often unrelated) news items; Nix!, a weekly strip that responds to the activities and statements of President Richard M. Nixon and his administration; The Optic Nerve, a long-running weekly strip which deals with more general news topics; The World at Weakend, a weekly strip on general news topic that appeared on Saturdays; and Which Way Wuzzit?, a weekly strip similar in form and content to Is This the Way it Was?.
