Series VIII. Time-Life Video Records, 1971-1987, inclusive
Extent
Scope and Contents
The Time-Life Video Records cover the period of 1971 to 1987 and contain materials from the offices of vice president of co-productions Haidee Granger and business manager Kathy Coraggio as well as financial records that document the relationship between Time-Life Video and companies that the created co-productions with. While the majority of documents were created by staff within Time-Life Video, there are also materials from Time-Life Films. Since Time-Life Video assumed responsibility for many of Time-Life Films' projects once it was phased out, Time-Life Video needed to maintain some of their documents for continuity.
Arrangement
The Time-Life Video Records are arranged into four subseries:
Subseries VIII.A. Vice President of Co-Productions Haidee Granger Files
Subseries VIII.B. Business Manager Kathy Coraggio Files
Subseries VIII.C. BBC Financial Files
VIII.D. Co-Production Royalty Files
Historical Note
It is unclear when Time Inc. first incorporated Time-Life Video and made it a subsidiary. While documents discussing the creation of a video service exist as early as 1970, it is unclear if this was a separate organization within Time Inc. or if it they were discussing the video division of Time-Life Films since many of the staff mentioned as part of Time-Life Video were staff of Time-Life Films. Time-Life Video isn't listed as a separate group with Time Inc. until June 1981. Based on evidence found with this record group, it appears that Time-Life Video was made into a separate organization as Time-Life Films was being phased out. As part of this phase out, Time-Life Video took on many of the projects that Time-Life Films had been working on.

Subseries VIII.A. Vice President of Co-Productions Haidee Granger Files, 1973-1984, inclusive
Extent
Scope and Contents
The Haidee Granger Files cover the period of 1973 to 1984. When Granger switched from Time-Life Films to Time-Life Video, it appears like she brought much of her previous work over with her. Since the majority of materials are from the period that Granger worked for Time-Life Video, the materials are part of the Time-Life Videos series. Included in this subseries are production evaluations, project proposals, post production scripts, commentary scripts, press releases, clippings, invoices, project budgets, copyright registration forms, background research, notes, slides, photographs, show programs, playbills, scripts, financial reports, five-year plans, contract preparation orders, contract abstracts, music cue sheet, episode overviews, provisional filming schedules, co-production summary sheets, distribution forms, agreements and contracts, list of contracts, list of corporations, resumes, cast lists, ratings list, candidate lists, invoices, committee remarks, negatives, event schedules, press kits, promotional materials, magazine issues, program overview, and correspondence. The correspondence included in this series discuss production, payments, cash flow, licensing, agreements, revenue, delivery schedule, cash advances, finances, sales, agreements and contract, invoices, production updates, credit changes, funding, closed captioning, television schedules, music cues, approval processes, responses to shows and critiques, changes to shows, film deliveries, underwriting pitches, requests for funds, and shipments.
