Scope and Contents note

This series contains information collected by the Exchange about its own historical development. It also includes a dissertation entitled "'Not A Lady Among Us': Entrepreneurial Philanthropy and Economic Independence as Expressed Through the Woman's Exchange Movement, 1832-1900," written by Kathleen Waters Sander on woman's exchanges in the United States (including the New York Exchange for Woman's Work), as well as correspondence relating to a book (The Business of Charity: The Woman's Exchange Movement, 1832-1900) written by Sander on the same topic.
