Scope and Contents

This series is contained in Boxes 3 and 4 and consists of a wide variety of materials concerning the annual and special events held by the Society, including dinners, festivals, receptions, meetings, and lectures. Items include an autograph book from the Society's First Annual Dinner in December of 1880 (containing the signatures of United State President Rutherford B. Hayes, Brooklyn clergyman Henry Ward Beecher, and other eminent figures), invitations, announcements, programs, menus, tickets, souvenir booklets, business and calling cards, seating charts, lecture schedules, and pamphlets. Also included are a variety of printed literature and advertisements from other New England and New York businesses and historical and cultural institutions (i.e., the Harvard Law School Association; the Boston Congregational Society; the National Society of New England Women; Union College of Schenectady, N.Y.; the First Church of Plymouth, MA; and the the Connecticut Congregational Club) concerning events or issues to which the Society was connected.
