Series 10: Environmental Programs
Scope and Contents
This series includes materials on environmental programs developed by Ron Shiffman and the Pratt Center, primarily relating to brownfields and energy conservation. A brownfield is vacant land that was previously used for industrial or commercial purposes, which resulted in soil contamination from hazardous waste. This series documents Shiffman and the Pratt Center's work with European colleagues to develop strategies for remediating contamination and redeveloping these sites. Additional environmental programs reflected in this series include green roofs, solar energy and energy conservation. The majority of materials in this series date from the late 1990s and early 2000s.
