This subseries consists of blood examination laboratory processing records. The material in this series was organized in manuscript form by Dr. Franz Ressel, head of epidemiological laboratory procedures in Bolivia. The test results were indexed by Member of the Household Number.

This subseries consists of 1,791 health questionnaires (cedulas de salud), organized by community name. The questionnaires were used as a preliminary census that documented the size of households and health conditions of family members. The questionnaires are in Spanish and include information about the family member providing the information, his/her age and health history, and information about the other members of the household. Some of the community files contain health questionnaires and tuberculin surveys. The latter consist of similar information as the healthy questionnaires and include information on tuberculosis titres taken at the time of the survey. The survey focuses on how many people live in the house, on the health of the members of the household, whether anyone in the house was very ill in a set of time not specified on the forms, and what sort of medical treatment that person received. The questionnaires contain the community household number, written above the page numbers, and the name of the head of household, which may also appear in the existing biographical index cards.

This subseries consists of statistical charts based on the processed census information of the communities being studied. Also included are computer printouts of what appear to be computer programming cards.

This subseries consists of materials related to the final report published in 1967 as Epidemiological Studies in Bolivia in English and Spanish.

This subseries contains household administrative cards which include information about people living in each house visited by investigators, which medical tests were administered on them, and a household sanitation survey conducted by the investigators. Each folder contains lab result forms for each household member. The latter includes subjective questions influenced by first world bias, detailing water supply, household cleanliness, presence of insects, and presence of domesticated animals. Also included are tuberculin survey forms and lab result forms for blood and stool tests.

Subseries F consists of 2,192 blood typing cards placed in archival polypropylene binders. The cards in this series, housed to minimize movement and moisture retention, were used for blood typing and indexed by the Member of the Household Number.

This subseries contains a published version of the report from 1969, drafts and correspondence regarding the republishing, and correspondence and curricula vitae for people applying/selected to work on the Bolivia project as well as other projects in the 1970s and 1980s.

This subseries consists of the Community Study Outline (CSO)/Bosquejo para el estudio de las communidades. The CSO is an outline that was used to standardize and index the information recorded in the field notes generated by each anthropologist. The one exception is Compi, where the anthropologists were already present in the community conducting their own research. These forms document the information in the card files in Subseries C. Field Notes / Notas de Campo filed under specific numbers documenting geographic environment, population demographics, history and development, institutional systems, the sociopolitical system, community and private health, and the Peace Corps program.

This subseries consists of 14,000 pages and 30 bound volumes of field notes, organized by community and fieldworker. The field notes were processed by a team of data coders and analysts, who produced the CSO Indexed Field Notes Cards and the Biographical Index. The field notes are organized by community and then by name of fieldworker.

The field notes document the experiences of the fieldworkers, including descriptions of the villages in which they worked, people they met and spoke with through the course of their work, and drawings of buildings and other parts of the villages. The notes are in English and Spanish. Descriptions of medicinal plants in villages and what each can be used for; descriptions of relationships between villagers; work done by villagers; what women buy from markets, how much, and how often; health of the field workers; cattle driving routes; religious orders in the villages and religious events; fiestas in each village and the significances and different aspects (social and religious) of each. Two boxes contain court judgments in Compi and Villa Abecia.

This subseries. contains 229 Attitudinal Questionnaires/Cedulas de Creencias. These questionnaires are organized by community and include the names of persons who were interviewed, mainly teenagers to middle aged men. These names may also appear in the Biographical Index in Subseries III. A. The questionnaires include questions on family, life, work, aspirations, and broad social and cultural attitudes. Specific topics include looking for work, repairing water sources, and raising children. Hypothetical situations are offered on each topic, followed by a series of questions based on these topics.

This subseries contains 1,094 Household Social Surveys/Encuestas sobre la Communidad. These surveys have not been fully analyzed or indexed with other materials in the collection. Some materials were processed and analyzed by Jonathan L. Kelley and Herbert S. Klein for their study Revolution and the Rebirth of Inequality, published in 1981. The surveys consist of open ended questions about family life, household set up (including water and toilet facilities), family size, and opinions about community, education, work, and membership in labor unions.

The materials in this subseries consist of student papers prepared by students from Columbia University and the University of Kentucky. Students developed these papers during summer fieldwork studies conducted by Dr. Lambros Comitas, Assistant Director of the Research Institute for the Study of Man.

The materials in this subseries consist of conference papers organized by field directors in Bolivia.
