Henrietta Scherer (1921-1990) was a social worker and at one time a Communist. This collection contains writings, correspondence, notebooks, and meeting minutes.
Historical/Biographical Note
Henrietta Scherer (1921-1990) was a social worker and at one time a Communist. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Brooklyn College and the Columbia University School of Social Work, she worked for the Bureau of Child Guidance, later a part of the New York City Board of Education.
Scope and Contents
This collection of 1940s material contains writings, most related to her social work school assignments; correspondence and notebooks; minutes of Meetings of Case Workers in Day Nurseries; instructional and other materials from the Jewish Welfare Board; Camp Bronx House; Folk dancing materials; Young Mens' and Young Womens' Hebrew Association materials, including HS writings.
