Series I. Leaves from the Theatrum Pictorium, 1660s, inclusive

Arrangement

In Series I, the numbers in [square brackets] preceding each print were assigned by New-York Historical Society staff when the collection was accessioned. This numbering system is organized alphabetically by engraver, except for where two plates printed on the same sheet (indicated by "a" and "b") break the alphabetical run.

The N-YHS numbering system bears no relation to the accepted ordering of the 246 images in the complete Theatrum Pictorium. Where known, these latter numbers have been supplied in {curly brackets} following title, artist, and engraver information. Interested researchers should consult https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theatrum_Pictorium.
