Abstract

The New-York Historical Society Collection of Certificates (formerly known as the Certificate File) contains certificates from private and civic societies, clubs, and organizations. Diplomas, certificates of merit and various financial and legal documents are also included. The collection contains fine examples of engravings, lithographs, and typography.

Scope and Contents Note

The New-York Historical Society Collection of Certificates (formerly known as the Certificate File) spans the period from 1700 to 1991 and contains certificates issued by a wide variey of societies, clubs and organizations. Diplomas, certificates of merit and various financial and legal documents are included as well. The collection contains fine examples of engravings, lithographs, and typography.
