Series III. Development, 1971-2015, inclusive

This subseries consists of materials documenting development activities, including contracts to NYSCA for artist funding, applications for the Annual Fund and grant opportunities, and correspondence to individuals appealing for financial contributions. This subseries includes materials documenting the development of NYFA's online presence initiatives, including Arts Wire online and the Tipping Sprung Fiscal Sponsorship website project led by Mark Rossier. Committee materials, such as the New Arts Advocates Committee, document NYFA's support of artists collaborating to create events, with an emphasis on local New York City artists. The subseries also includes press summaries, newsletters, and compilations of fiscal year strategy packets.

This subseries contains development materials for specific events, such as benefits and auctions, created by NYFA or in partnership with other arts organizations. Some of these events include the "Champion of the Arts" Benefit, "Summer Slam" DUMBO poetry event, "Imaginary Needs" – Creative Support for the Creative Artist Conference, and the National Arts Advocates' "Vide-O-Rama" fellows film screening. The event development materials consist of correspondence, budget, programs, and notes.

This subseries consists of materials documenting contributions made to NYFA's projects and ongoing operations. Contributions made to NYFA vary based on the priority of development for events, projects, and fund opportunities made by NYFA for a given fiscal year. Examples of contributions include corporate donations to the "Champion of the Arts" Benefit, organizational contributions to the Artists' New Works program for artists like Anita Feldman, and unsolicited support from individuals supporting NYFA's mission in artistic development. Included in the subseries are a small number of rejections from organizations that later funded NYFA, such as the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
