Abstract
The Folklore Center and Fretted Instruments Shop was founded in 1957 by Israel (Izzy) Young. It was a place where people could purchase instruments, books, records, and other folk related materials. It was also a gathering place for the growing NYC folk music and poetry scenes, such as Bob Dylan, Peter Yarrow, Dave Van Ronk, Ted Berrigan, and many others. This collection contains newsletters and flyers from the Folklore Center. The newsletters include lists of upcoming concerts and readings. Of note is a flyer for Bob Dylan's premier concert in New York City at the Carnegie Chapter Hall in 1961.
