Biographical Note

James Vincent Pugliese (1910-1979) was an antiquarian bookman and antiques dealer. Born in New York City on September 11, 1910, Pugliese developed a great interest in Americana, and eventually reprinted three public-domain works on American subjects. He had an out-of-print book and antique shop on Webster Avenue in the Bronx, and he also conducted business through a monthly called The Antiquarian Bookman. In 1973 he and his wife moved from the Bronx to New Paltz, New York where he ran a shop attached to his home on North Chestnut. On December 26, 1979 Pugliese died of sudden cardiac arrest.
