Scope and Contents
The Doris R. Cain collection of Brooklyn waterfront improvement photographs consists of 12 black-and-white photographs pertaining to a seven-year waterfront improvement program by the Port of New York Authority (now the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey), circa 1955. The collection includes aerial photographs or copy prints of renderings showing the proposed improvement program area and the piers along the Brooklyn waterfront. The aerial views include the Brooklyn and Manhattan waterfronts, views of the East River, and views of New York Harbor. Some of the renderings show the proposed piers.
