Abstract
This collection consists of six war ration books of the Mittleman Family of Brooklyn, circa 1941 to 1945. During the Second World War, the United States government introduced rationing on the homefront due to a lack of supplies and goods as a result of the war effort. War ration books were issued to each family that dictated the amount of gasoline, tires, sugar, meat, nylon, shoes, and any other items one person could purchase.
