John H. Lindenbusch's correspondence, memorabilia, minutes, pamphlets, dpcuments and photographs relating to his service on the selection committee for the Better Brooklyn Committee's Brooklyn Hall of Fame and College Student Awards.
Historical note
The Brooklyn Hall of Fame and College Student Awards were sponsored by the Better Brooklyn Committee, founded by John La Carte in 1960. The aim of the Better Brooklyn Committee was to "help perpetuate the names of those who contributed to the advancement...honor the self-made...whose achievements will inspire our youth...the builders of a Better Brooklyn."
Biographical note
John H. Lindenbusch was director of the Long Island Historical Society from 1965 to 1973. He also served on the selection committee for awards given by the Better Brooklyn Committee in the late 1960s.

Scope and Contents
The Better Brooklyn Committee records include correspondence, memorabilia, minutes, pamphlets, partial list of supporters, lists of candidates, and recipients of Brooklyn Hall of Fame and College Student Awards. The records also include two photographs, portraits of Charles Isaacs (L.I.U. Brooklyn Center) and F.W. Richmond. These items once belonged to John H. Lindenbusch, director of the Long Island Historical Society, and were collected in his capacity of a member of the Better Brooklyn awards selection committee.
