Abstract
One 1865 letter sent from Lieutenant Colonel Batt Jones while being held prisoner in a Confederate Army camp at Johnson's Island, OH, requesting that provisions be smuggled in for him. There is a note on the back of the letter written by Edward R. Squibb stating that provisions will be sent with permission by Major Scovil.
Biographical note
Edward Robinson Squibb (1819-1900) was the founder of the Brooklyn-based Squibb Pharmaceuticals. He had also served as a surgeon in the U.S. Navy from 1847 to 1857.

Letter sent from Lieutenant Colonel Batt Jones while being held prisoner in a Confederate Army camp at Johnson's Island, OH, requesting that provisions be smuggled in for him. There is a note on the back of the letter written by Edward R. Squibb stating that provisions will be sent with permission by Major Scovil. The letter is dated January 15, 1865. A typed copy of the letter is also included.
