Abstract
The Ken Wicht photograph collection consists of 19 photographic negatives (35mm) and one black-and-white print showing views of Brooklyn Heights neighborhood, with many views of Henry Street, circa 1980.
Biographical note
Kenneth Gary Wicht (1955-2005) was an amateur photographer who photographed New York City and Brooklyn during the 1980s, among other subjects. Wicht was born on September 1, 1955 in Rockville Centre, Long Island, NY to Adolph H. Wicht and Marie E. Wicht (nee Croteau). He graduated from Baldwin Senior High School in 1973 and attended the State University of New York, Albany from which he earned a BA in 1978. Wicht learned to fly airplanes and served in the United States Air Force. In the 1980s and 1990s, he studied photography and became an accomplished scuba diver. Wicht died on March 21, 2005 and is buried in Calverton National Cemetery in New York.
Scope and Contents
The Ken Wicht photograph collection consists of 19 photographic negatives (35mm) and one black-and-white print showing views of Brooklyn Heights neighborhood, with many views of Henry Street, circa 1980. The collection also includes six color slides of views of the Manhattan skyline and views of Brooklyn including the Williamsburg Savings Bank building at night, the Brooklyn Bridge (day and night views), the East River shot from under the Brooklyn Bridge, and the waterfront area of Greenpoint, circa 1982. The creator of the slides is unknown, but it is presumed that it was also Ken Wicht, the donor of the slides.
