Abstract

This collection consists of two deeds from 1875 and 1890 conveying property at #29 Prospect Place (formerly Warren Street) to and from Hiram T. Dewey, as well as one abstract from 1875 to the title of this property, giving a history of its ownership from 1834 onwards. There is also an envelope addressed to the Long Island Historical Society (now the Brooklyn Historical Society) from Mrs. James F. Dickson, Jr. of East Hartford, CT, who is believed to be the donor of this collection.

Biographical Note

Hiram Todd Dewey (d. 1901) was the President and Director of H.T. Dewey & Sons Co., a wine merchant firm in New York City. At the time of his death, his home was at 651 Putnam Avenue in Brooklyn.
