Scope and Contents
This series contains records of the Brooklyn Children's Aid Society, including annual reports (1872-1946), one certificate of incorporation, a scrapbook and photograph album, two publications titled Summer Relief for Little Children and Thirty-Five Years of Saving Services, and six registers documenting the disposition of children being sheltered by the Society.
The registers generally list the name of child admitted; case, city, and state numbers; dates the children were admitted, committed, expiration, and discharged; who the children were committed by (public agency or relatives); date of birth of the child and age of the child when committed; if the children were committed or non-committed to boarding homes, Herriman Farm School, or the Wavecrest facilities (Far Rockaway); remarks; and temporary home.
