The Sheltering Arms Nursery (SAN) records include annual reports, admissions ledgers, and an event program, dating from 1871 to 1917. The ledgers log information about each child admitted to SAN and include the following categories: age of child, religious affiliation, health status upon arrival, family information such as the reason the child was admitted, ethnic heritage, and the date and reason the child was discharged from SAN.
