Abstract
This artificially constructed collection contains oversized and larger-scale materials from various University Archives collections, stored together in flat-file drawers and oversized boxes. This collection includes university building plans; NYU diplomas, certificates, and proclamations; photographs of buildings, student groups, University Presidents, and events; and NYU event posters.
Historical Note
The New York University Archives serves as the final repository for the historical records of NYU. Its primary purpose is to document the history of the University and to provide source material for administrators, faculty, students, alumni, and other members of the University community, as well as scholars, authors, and other interested persons who seek to evaluate the impact of the University's activities on the history of American social, cultural, and intellectual development.

Conditions Governing Access
Administrative records and unpublished reports of New York University are closed for a period of 20 years from the date of their creation. Access to files spanning multiple years will be opened to researchers based on the date of the most recent materials. Board of Trustees records are closed for 35 years from the date of creation. Materials related to personnel, grievances, job and fellowship searches and applications, and all files that fall under the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) are permanently restricted. Additional restrictions may apply to other materials in this collection. For questions regarding specific restrictions, please contact the University Archives.

This is an artificial collection that contains oversized material drawn from an assortment of other University Archives collections. The accession numbers associated with this collection are 92.024, 2017.012, and 2020.035. A poster for an event hosted by the Institute for Afro-American Affairs was purchased in November 2021; the accession number associated with this purchase is 2022.018.
In April 2023, posters for animation festivals held for the Tisch School of the Arts were transferred from an accretion to the John Canemaker Papers MSS 040). The accession number associated with this transfer is 2023.022.
About this Guide
Processing Information
Decisions regarding arrangement, description, and physical interventions for this collection prior to 2018 are unknown. In 2019, materails were rehoused by Preservation and sent to offsite storage. In 2020, an accretion of one poster was intellectually incorporated into Series VIII. in accordance with the collection's existing arrangement. In 2024, materials that were separated from the Florence Perlow Shientag Papers (MC 216), the Records of the Office of the University Architect/Joseph J. Roberto Collection (RG 11 4), and the New York University Archives Photograph Collection (PHOTO.00001) were returned to their original collections.
