Abstract

The Law Alumni of Color Association (LACA), formerly Black and Latino Law Alumni Association (BLLAA) and Black and Latino Law Alumni Association (BLLAA), supports and promotes the professional development and advancement of students, faculty, and alumni of color of the New York University School of Law. The LACA Records contain files accumulated by the LACA Board President during 2001 to 2003 including correspondence, Board meeting agendas, LACA member directories, and notes. Planning files include material related to the LACA annual dinner, mentor program, and scholarship. These records also contain photographs from the 2002 BLAPA spring dinner.

Historical Note

The Law Alumni of Color Association (LACA) supports all New York University School of Law's alumni of color. Founded in 1978 as the Black and Latino Law Alumni Association (BLLAA), the organization transitioned to a new name in the 1980s as the Black, Latino, Asian Pacific American Law Alumni Association (BLAPA). The association supports and promotes the professional development and advancement of the students, faculty, and alumni of color of the Law School. In 2016, the association was renamed as the Law Alumni of Color Association (LACA).

This collection has not been arranged by an archivist. The materials are arranged in the order in which they were received from the donor.

Scope and Contents

The Law Alumni of Color Association (LACA) Records contain files dating from 2001 to 2003 from the LACA Board President, Linda Gadsby, including correspondence, Board meeting agendas, LACA member directories, and notes. Planning files include material related to the LACA annual dinner, mentor program, and scholarships. The records also contain photographs from the 2002 BLAPA spring dinner.
