Scope and Contents
This collection documents John Harlan's career in libraries and archives. Materials include five publications related to librarianship and the archives profession. Four of the publications were inscribed by editor, Nancy Kranich, and author, John Brademas, who served Majority Whip of the United States House of Representatives for the Democratic Party from 1977 to 1981 and as the thirteenth president of New York University (NYU) from 1981 to 1991. There are also three previously framed sets of documents relating to first issue stamps commemorating the Library of Congress and the American Library Association, and ephemera, including invitations and a group photograph, documenting the 1979 White House Conference on Library and Information Services, which counted John Brademas and John Harlan among its participants.
