Scope and Contents
This series focuses upon May Chen's advocacy work to aid unionized workers, particularly in Chinatown's garment industry, via her involvement as a representative of the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees (UNITE) Local 23-25 and the Hotel Employees and Resturant Employees (HERE) International Union. Materials in this series include, but are not limited to, anti-sweatshop documents in both English and Chinese, rally posters, educational circulars, photographs, petitions, UNITE memos, copies of UNITE newsletters, Chinese news publications, research statistics, and zoning information focused upon the garment district. This series also includes some audiovisual and born-digital items.
