Abstract
This collection consists of an assortment of newspapers and research materials compiled by Cora Weiss during her involvement in the anti-Vietnam War movement. Cora Weiss is an American political activist who was a leader in the anti-Vietnam War movement and organized several anti-war demonstrations, including the November 15, 1969 in Washington, DC protest, which is considered to be one of the largest anti-war protests held in the United States. This collection primarily consists of issues of English-language newspapers critical of United States involvement in Vietnam, including South Viet Nam Struggle,Vietnam Courier, Viet Nam: News & Report, News From Vietnam, and Vietnam Report. It also contains several documents related to the legality of U.S. intervention in Vietnam and a report on acts of violence committed by Vietnamese right-wing groups in the United States.
Historical/Biographical Note
Cora Weiss is an American political activist who was involved in peace, anti-nuclear and other social justice movements in the twentieth century. She was a leader in the anti-Vietnam War movement and organized several anti-war demonstrations, including the November 15, 1969 in Washington, DC protest, which is considered to be one of the largest anti-war protests held in the United States. She also served as the Co-Chair and Director of the Committee of Liaison with Families of Servicemen Detained in Vietnam; director of the Riverside Church (New York, NY) Disarmament Program from 1978 to 1988; and organized the exchange of mail between families and prisoners of war in Vietnam. Weiss was also an early member other organizations including Women Strike for Peace, serving on the National Board of WSP from 1961-1973; active with SANE/Freeze (later called Peace Action), 1986-2000; president of the Hague Appeal for Peace, 1996-; and president of the International Peace Bureau, 2000. She has received numerous peace awards for her work.
She is married to human rights attorney Peter Weiss.

Scope and Content Note
This collection consists of an assortment of newspapers and research materials compiled by Cora Weiss during her involvement in the anti-Vietnam War movement. These materials primary consist of issues of English-language newspapers critical of United States involvement in Vietnam.
The most well represented newspaper in this collection is South Viet Nam in Struggle and contains issues between 1971 and 1974. The collection also contains a number of additional anti-American periodicals including issues of Vietnam Courier between 1970 and 1973, Viet Nam: News & Reports, News From Viet Nam, and Viet Nam Report from 1973 to 1974. The periodicals Viet Nam: News & Reports and News From Viet Nam were Canadian based periodicals, which eventually merged and were renamed Viet Nam Report.
The collection also contains a number of documents related to the legality of U.S. intervention in Vietnam from 1970. It also contains a "Dossier on the Acts of Terrorism Committed by Vietnamese Right-Wing Groups in the United States". The dossier incudes reports on the murder of Pham Thi Luu and the attempted murder of her husband Nguyen Van Luy in San Francisco in 1984, and reports on violent crimes directed at suspected Vietnamese communists by right-wing Vietnamese organizations in the United States.
