The American Friends of Russian Freedom was founded in 1891 in Boston, Massachusetts. The organization supported the Russian opposition movement, broadly defined. The American Friends of Russian Freedom Records consists of letters, clippings and pamphlets pertaining to the American Friends of Russian Freedom, and specifically the organization's opposition to the 1893 Russian Extradition Treaty.

The American Friends of Russian Freedom was founded in 1891 in Boston, Massachusetts. The organization supported the Russian opposition movement, broadly defined. A major campaign of the American Friends of Russian Freedom was to oppose the U.S. ratification of the Russian Expedition Treaty, which allowed Russians residing in the U.S. to be extradited to face political charges in Russia.
