Subseries C consists of records from several youth organizations affiliated with the Communist Party at the national and local level. These youth organizations began appearing in the early 1920s and continued to form or reform throughout the 20th century; the Young Communist League (YCL) and the Young Workers Liberation League (YWLL) are perhaps the most well-known. The records of the Young Communist League make up the bulk of the subseries. Records from the first incarnation of the Young Communist League (1922-1943) are present; however, the majority of the YCL's records document their activities following its reformation in 1983. Records detailing the activities of the W.E.B. Du Bois Clubs of America and the Labor Youth League are also available in this subseries. These records include correspondence, educational materials, essays, reports, notes, meeting minutes, and organizing materials as well as select audio and video recordings from YCL and YWLL conventions, meetings, rallies, and educational programs.
An accretion of Young Communist League records was added to this series in 2018. These materials include pamphlets and ephemera from youth festivals, National Convention organizing files, drafts and articles from the publication Dialog, and a small amount of correspondence. They also include many unprocessed digital files on several CD-R, DVD-R, and floppy disks containing digital images, administrative files, presentations, reports, articles, and discussion drafts dated from 1996 to 2009.
