Series VI. Motion Picture and Theater Posters, 1790-2022, inclusive

Scope and Contents

This series includes posters advertising individual plays operettas, mistrel shows, musicians, specialty acts, and dance companies, as well as posters advertising motion pictures.

The bulk of the series dates from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century. This includes text playbills that provide a detailed record of performances in NYC from the 1790s to 1890s.
