Scope and Contents note
Series 2 consists of letters sent by Thompson to his friend Elias Fairchild detailing the particulars of army life and asking for news from home. Most notably, this series contains a letter written from Libby Prison in October of 1862, detailing Thompson's experiences at the Battle of Antietam.
