Series I: Tomlinson Collection Land Papers (1666-1779)

Scope and Contents note

From the Tomlinson Collection, once owned by the Mercantile Library Association, this series is almost entirely composed of land conveyance documents. Box 1, Folder 3 contains an unusual item - a petition to the court in Kingston from Thomas Cumming who was indicted for treason, tried, convicted and sentenced to death. He is asking that the court recommend him to the Governor as an "object of mercy."
