This collection consists of letters written to architect Charles Follen McKim from a variety of noteworthy correspondents, dated 1888-1906.
Biographical / Historical
Architect Charles Follen McKim was born August 24, 1847 in Pennsylvania. He attended Harvard, later studying architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1879, McKim joined with William Rutherford Mead and Stanford White to form McKim, Mead, & White, which became the most successful and influential American architectural firm of its time. McKim died September 14, 1909 in St. James, Long Island, New York.

This is a collection of letters written to architect Charles Follen McKim from a variety of noteworthy correspondents, dated 1888-1906. Included are letters from Joseph H. Choate, Charles Eliot, John Hay, John LaFarge, Theodore Roosevelt, Edith Roosevelt, Elihu Root, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, John Singer Sargent, Edith Wharton and others.
