Series IV. Audiovisual, 2002-2015, inclusive

Scope and Contents

The series consists of audiocasettes, videocasettes, compact discs, and digital files of various media, mostly pertaining to 9/11 and post-9/11 detentions, as well as educational material about Islam and Islamic holidays.

Arrangement

The series is organized into two subseries:

Series IV.B. Cassette Tapes, 2002-2003

Series IV.A. Digital Formats, 2002-2015, inclusive

Scope and Contents

The subseries contains 10 compact discs (8 audio, 2 audiovisual) and the 4.52 gigabytes of digital files preserved from the 10 CDs; and 6 commercial compact discs that Carroll possessed. The topic of these media largely cover 9/11 and post-9/11 detentions, as well as various elements of Islamic culture and religion, Hurricane Katrina, and the use of torture by the United States federal government. The 6 commercial CDs have not been digitally preserved.

Arrangement

The subseries has been arranged with the CD/DVDs with preserved digital files available for access first, followed by the restricted digital media.

Conditions Governing Use

The files from these 10 discs have been copied and preserved, and access to the content is available only through the Digital Files listed below. However, the physical discs may be of interest as archival objects and for any labeling on them, which is minimal and was transcribed below.

Scope and Contents

The subseries consists of a set of audiocassette tapes, which are an oral recitation of the Quran, as well as a set of videocassette VHS tapes that include various recordings or documentaries on 9/11 and post-9/11 detentions.

Arrangement

The subseries is arranged alphabetically.

Conditions Governing Use

The cassettes are restricted because of the fragility of the tapes. Any access is dependent on the reformatting of the tapes into digital files at the expense of the requestor; such arrangements need to be made through the curator of manuscripts.

Scope and Contents

Set of 19 cassette tapes held in green carrier, which labels in Arabic. Appears to be a recitation of the Quran by imam Ibrahim Al-Akhdar.

VHS cassette tapes (RESTRICTED), 2002-2003, inclusive

Scope and Contents

A set of 15 VHS tapes which largely include reports from various news stations on detainees or documentaries about detainees after 9/11. Many tapes include the inscription "Martha" or "Martha's copy." Annotations are noted on the cassette's side. The items are:
