Abstract
A small collection of documents concerning John H. Gutfreund (1929-2016), former head of the Wall Street investment firm Salomon Brothers. Holds clippings and tearsheets (1978-2003) from Business Week, Institutional Investor, Investment Dealers Digest, and other publications concerning Gutfreund's career; copies of Gutfreund's remarks on three occasions: observations on the state of financing, delivered to the Securities Industry Association Conference (1989), observations about the structure of the securities market, delivered to the New York Financial Writers' Association (1998), and market observations delivered to the Metropolitan Club (2000); and a copy of his obituary in the New York Times (2016).
