Scope and Contents Note
This series includes transcriptions, mostly created by Smith and made from documents held in archives in Spain and England. The documents are primarily related to the history of North American colonization and Native American languages. Also included are drafts of The Story of Uncle Jack, a first-person narrative about Sitiki, or "Uncle Jack," an African-American slave, who was owned by Smith's family.
