Abstract
John Everett Watts, Jr. (1929–1982) was an American composer of electronic music throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The John Tegnell Collection on John Watts contains an undated Composers Festival Orchestra list of musicians; two letters from John Watts to John Tegnell in 1973 and 1976; a 1977 photograph of Watts; and an undated annotated score Z from a performance featuring Watts.
Historical Notes
John Carl Tegnell (1916-2008) was an American professor of voice and choral music at Illinois Wesleyan, the University of Tennessee, and for 30 years at San Francisco State University where he was also department chair.
John Everett Watts, Jr. (1929–1982) was an American composer of electronic music throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Watts was also a faculty member at the New School for Social Research in New York City from 1969 until 1982, where he directed the Electronic Music Program and coordinated music workshops, concerts, and festivals.
