Scope and Content

This series documents Berkowitz's finances, including his income and issues he faced in maintaining his residence. Materials in this series include pay stubs from Berkowitz's work as a driver for the American Red Cross in Greater New York, and for his work for POZ and SPIN magazines; correspondence, legal documents, and receipts detailing issues Berkowitz had with his landlords and apartment management companies; and correspondence regarding grants he received, including one from the PEN American Center which allowed him to purchase AIDS medications.
