Abstract
Don Dombowsky is a Friedrich Nietzsche scholar and poet who wrote and published poetry under the name Don David in New York City during the late 1980s-90s. The collection contains Dombowsky's correspondence with other writers and artists Dombowksy met during his time in New York. Materials also include manuscripts, publications, and audio recordings created by the writers and artists Dowmbowsky maintained contact with, as well as some of his own work. Materials date from 1977 to 2011.
Biographical Note
Don Dombowsky is a Friedrich Nietzsche scholar and poet who wrote and published poetry under the name Don David in New York City during the late 1980s-90s. During this time he was very involved with the Lower East Side magazine Long News in the Short Century edited by Barbara Henning as well as writers and artists associated with Shiny magazine edited by Michael Friedman.
Originally from Canada, Dombowsky moved to NYC to study philosophy at the New School. He made contact with Dennis Cooper at St. Mark's who put him in touch with Leland Hickman and Kevin Killian who in turn brought him into contact with a range of fascinating poets, writers, publishers, and artists including Paul Buck.
Dombowsky works as an Assistant Professor at Bishop's University, teaching selected topics in the history of philosophy, politics and art.

This collection contains the papers of Don Dombowsky. A majority of the collection contains Dombowsky's correspondence with writers and artists, including Terrence Sellers, Barbara Henning, and Paul Buck. The collection also contains manuscripts, publications, and audio recordings created by Dombowsky and other writers and artists whom Dombowsky maintained contact with. Materials date from 1977 to 2011.
