Scope and Contents
This series contains publications related to Kupferberg's projects throughout his life including articles written by and about him; his cartoons and collages; poetry reading and performance announcements; and interviews. Fug concert announcements, album reviews, and interviews with band members can also be found in this series. Revolting Theater show announcements and literary appearances around New York can also be found in the publications. This series contains many New York-related titles including New York Arts Weekly, Soho Weekly News, New York Press, Downtown, The Village Voice, and The East Village Other. Wider distribution publications can also be found in this series, including National Lampoon, Against the Current, Screw, and WIN. Of note is Kupferberg's popular High Times columns, both Dr. Fuck, and Dope Lore. Fan mail for these columns can be found in Series VIII. There is a notable collection of smaller press/zines in this series including Crawdaddy, Inside Joke, Other Scenes and Public Illuminations Magazine.

Publications are arranged alphabetically within each format size grouping. Publications are not listed individually, but by the alphabetical range of titles within each box.
Appraisal
Duplicate copies of publications were deaccessioned.
Processing Information
The processing archivist foldered all publications, housing them by size, and alphabetizing them within each publication size. Page numbers and subject of reference were often notated on the front page of publications, or on a small slip of paper within. Post-it notes found on the publications were photocopied and placed within. Notes or brief letters found within the publications were retained to give context.
