Abstract
The Aura Castro photographs commemorating her naturalization consist of seven color photographic prints showing Aura Castro on the occasion of her becoming an American citizen on Sept. 23, 1990. Included are views of Aura Castro posing in front of the United States Courthouse in Brooklyn and at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. Her son, Omar Castro, is also shown in some of the photographs.
Biographical note
Aura Castro was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on May 24, 1934. She came to the United States in 1962 and settled in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn. She next moved to Queens, N.Y. and in 1968 returned to Ecuador for one year. She then moved back to Brooklyn and lived in Bensonhurst. Castro was a hairdresser and her son, Omar Castro, studied architecture at City College of New York. She became a U.S. citizen on September 23, 1990.
