Scope and Contents
The Carl H. Dahlstrom collection of Blizzard of 1888 photographs dates from 1888 and contains 16 items. Photographs in the collection are modern copy prints of black-and-white negatives taken by a Dr. Levison following the blizzard. Images are located in the Boerum Hill and Downtown neighborhoods of Brooklyn. The collection includes street scenes which show the impact of the blizzard on the buildings, streets, and elevated train tracks. Several images show horse-drawn sleds and carriages in the streets. The collection also includes two photographed maps which track the storm's path in the Northern Atlantic Ocean.
