Biographical

Bob Gore is a New York based photographer and film producer whose work documents worship traditions in the United States and the Caribbean. He is the official photographer of the Abyssinan Baptist Church and author of We've Come This Far: Abyssinian Baptist Church andGood News from Haiti: The Work of Bethlehem Ministry. His work has appeared numerous exhibits and publications.

Scope and Contents

The Bob Gore collection consists of digital photographs taken at five Brooklyn events: a Lowa wedding ceremony in Flatbush, circa 2007; the Tribute to the Ancestors ceremony at Coney Island, memorializing enslaved Africans who died at sea in their forced passage to the Americas, 2008; the Gateway to Nations powwow at Floyd Bennett Field in June, 2010; the West Indian American Day Carnival Parade in 2017; and the Black Lives Matter protests, 2020 (CBH accession 2021.0005).
