Scope and Contents

This scrapbook has an elaborately decorated and gilded cloth cover. It contains printed ephemera, including trade cards, greeting cards (some with three-dimensional elements), calling cards, and poems; clippings, including many death and marriage notices for members of the Livingston and Yenni families and other prominent New York families; and some correspondence. It also contains several pages with dried plant matter attached.

Some items were loosely tucked into the pages of this scrapbook and those items have been foldered separately.

Includes programs from the Philharmonic Society of Brooklyn, 1878; Columbia Theatre, 1900; closing night at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Montague Street location, featuring Adelina Patti, 1903; opening night at the new Brooklyn Academy of Music in Fort Greene, 1908; Casino Theatre (Manhattan), 1912; and the inaugural performance at Radio City Music Hall, circa 1932.

Processing Information

The collection originally included one 1941 facsimile of the first issue of the Brooklyn Eagle (October 26, 1841) printed for its centennial. As the item was in poor condition and is easily findable elsewhere, the archivist discarded it.
