Abstract

This collection consists of documents dated 1849-1892: correspondence between Albert Osborn and his daughter, Anna; a legal agreement between Albert Osborn and Samuel Smith; various financial notes; and the last will and testament of Adeline Osborn.

Biographical note

Albert and Adeline Osborn lived with their daughter Anna on Gallatin Place in Brooklyn, N.Y., on a plot of land between Fulton and Livingston Streets that Albert had purchased in 1856. During Albert's time living in California in the late 1840s and early 1850s, Adeline and Anna had resided at No. 20 Johnson Street in Brooklyn.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of correspondence between Albert Osborn and his daughter, Anna, regarding her schoolwork and his travels to California and Mexico during the period 1849 to 1852. Also included is a legal agreement between Albert Osborn and Samuel Smith for a plot of land on Gallatin Place in Brooklyn, as well as various financial notes and the last will and testament of Adeline Osborn.
