Rufus B. Kelsey moved to Brooklyn in 1875 and was a Pastor at the Sixth Avenue Baptist Church in Brooklyn.
Scope and Contents
The Rufus B. Kelsey papers consist of correspondence, primarily written to Kelsey, spanning the period 1859 to 1883. Included in the correspondence are letters from Kelsey's brother Samuel during the Civil War, letters he received from his father Daniel Kelsey, letters from his wife Evaline D. Kelsey, and letters from his teacher Charles Aaron, among others. The collection also includes letters written by Kelsey to his wife.
